Originally from Guatemala City, Guatemala and raised in Redwood City, CA, Edgar Aguirre feels a cultural responsibility and desire to create work that highlights the voices and experiences of the Latine community; furthermore, uplift the voices of the BIPOC community. Edgar values the resiliency of Black and Brown people and the cultures that are deeply rooted in African and Indigenous wisdoms. Edgar received his BFA from the University of California Irvine and since then has been performing and touring with dance companies nationally and internationally and has been a restaging assistant for Donald McKayle’s repertory.. Edgar is most proud of having danced in Donald McKayle's Étude Ensemble and having been awarded the Donald McKayle Scholarship. Edgar enjoys moving between a plethora of dance genres. He truly shines through his athleticism and dynamic storytelling. Edgar has been working as a freelance dance artist, choreographer and teacher between San Francisco and Los Angeles since 2021.

In conjunction with his dance career, Edgar has also embarked on the field of body work. Edgar is passionate about fitness and wellness and is certified to provide one-on-one assisted stretching and is also a certified Pilates instructor. He enjoys working with his clients and providing them with the support that they need in order to improve their bodies and achieve their physical goals. As a way of stepping into ancestral practices and reclaiming his Maya heritage, Edgar is also on a P’oktap’ok team, “Ixi’im K’áak’” based in LA. He and the the team competed in the 5th International P’oktap’ok World Cup this year in Belize, representing the USA playing this ancient Maya ball game.
